আদালত সূত্র জনায়, ২০২০ সালের ১৫ ডিসেম্বর চান্দিনা উপজেলার জোয়াগ পশ্চিমপাড়ায় এক মাহফিলের আয়োজন করা হয়। ওই মাহফিলে মামুনুল হকের বিরুদ্ধে উসকানিমূলক বক্তব্য দেওয়ার অভিযোগে আয়োজক কমিটি এবং অতিথিদের বিরুদ্ধে ১৭ ডিসেম্বর একটি মামলা করে পুলিশ। ওই মামলায় মোট ছয়জনকে আসামি করা হয়।

বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করে মামুনুল হকের আইনজীবী মো. জসিম উদ্দীন চৌধুরী বলেন, বিচারকের সামনে মামুনুল হক তার বিরুদ্ধে আনা অভিযোগ মিথ্যা ও বানোয়াট বলে দাবি করেছেন। তিনি এবং তার সংগঠনের নেতা খালেদ সাইফুল্লাহ নির্দোষ বলে জানিয়েছেন। পরে বিচারক মামলার পরবর্তী তারিখ ধার্য করেন।

This legal claim poses an unsustainable level of liability for healthcare professionals, making it impossible for the university to provide comprehensive transgender care for minor patients without exposing both the institution and its providers to unacceptable legal risks.

This decision mirrors a similar choice made by MU Health Care, based in Columbia.

Patients currently undergoing these treatments at Washington University’s Transgender Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital will be referred to other healthcare providers. The center, which has faced scrutiny from U.S. Senator Josh Hawley and the Missouri Attorney General’s Office since a whistleblower came forward earlier in the year, will continue to provide educational and mental health care services for its patients.
